The power of language
Yesterday in my business communications class, we were told to think about the way we talk, and the context we use our words in. I immediately started to think about the people I always hang around and how they have a big influence on the way I use my language in society. When I'm conversing with people like my close friends and family, I notice that the correct standard of English seems to fly out of the door. I start using terms like " whats good", and other different slang terminology. I also noticed that I use it so much, that sometimes it can come out in places like the work place and school. I started to realize that the way I speak can have a huge effect on the way other people can view me. So I decided to make a list of slang words that I use on a daily basis. each word contains something that I thought was interesting . I practice a little bit everyday not to use these words, so that my vocabulary will be stronger than what it was. whether we like it or not, we are judged. Not only are we judged by our looks, but we are judged on the way we communicate and talk. It is safe to say that Language is a power in itself.

Powerful post VeEster! I really enjoyed your analogy at the end, it made me reflect on how I speak as well in a rare slang dialect that only I and my mother speak and we speak it to everyone and wonder why no one understands us! I can relate completely to this post and it is written very well.
